A contracting company accountant went on trial on Thursday, for allegedly groping the woman during the interview.
The 24-year-old Asian woman said she was in Dubai on a visit visa, and had applied for jobs with many companies in the emirate, including the contracting company where the defendant was working.
The 33-year-old Asian defendant interviewed the woman, while they were alone in his office.
“In due course, he made advances to me and groped me,” the victim told the court.
She said she yelled and ran away, after which she reported the matter to police, who arrested the man.
The judge interrogated the defendant at the hearing, and asked him whether he was guilty.
The defendant denied the charges and appealed for clemency, presenting a note purportedly from the victim abrogating her rights in the case.
