A top official at the Sharjah Traffic Department said due to the spread of patrols in all parts of the streets and the efforts made by traffic police to ensure safety, the number of fatalities has been reduced during Eid Al Adha compared to last year’s seven and 20 injuries in seven accidents.

The police said the Criminal Investigation Department’s planning during Eid Al Adha contributed to minimising the crimes and incidents during the holidays. The CID arrested a few people who tried to exploit the occasion to practise illegal activities and some beggars were arrested in parks and crowded areas.

The security patrols had been deployed in various parts, particularly the entertainment areas, beaches, malls and parks in the emirate during Eid to control crimes and incidents and ensure safety.

The police said they would continue efforts in providing various security and safety services to ensure a safe environment for residents. He urged residents to cooperate with the police to foil all criminal plans which target the public and private properties and protect the youth by advising them to respect the law and the systems.
