Ras Al Khaimah: A 22-year-old heavy truck driver succumbed to fatal injuries he received after the vehicle he was driving turned over on the Liwaa road in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah on Tuesday morning.

According to a police source, the victim lost control over the steering wheel at a curve on the road that he collided with the side iron road divider, and turned turtle aside.

“The young man, Asian, sustained serious injuries and fractures all over his body, as well as excessive internal bleeding, particularly in the head, as per the forensic report.”

The heavy truck was totally damaged while the load of sand in the vehicle fell on the road, he added.

“The traffic police blocked the critical road leading to the southern areas of the emirate, and diverted the vehicles to another road until the sand was removed by the civil defence teams.”

The Central Operations Room of the RAK Police, having been alerted of the traffic accident, dispatched traffic police patrols, an ambulance, and rescue team to the site in record time.

The same sources said the driver, was rushed to the intensive care unit at the nearest hospital in a serious condition, but he could not make it, and shortly breathed his last.

“He was then moved to the morgue of the hospital for burial procedures by relatives.”

The accident case was referred to the RAK Traffic Police for investigation to identify the reasons behind the accident and the man’s sorrowful death, he noted.

“Motorists are urged to observe traffic rules and regulations, mainly speed limit, and be focused on the road.”
