Top teams set for Heriot tourney

SHARJAH — Eight teams have signed up for an inter-university cricket tournament, organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council, a press release said.

The event, called the Heriot Watt University Dubai Campus Cricket Tournament, is will be played at Al Dhaid Cricket Village and the final is scheduled for April 11.

The eight teams participating in the tournament have been divided into two groups with top teams from each group making it to the semifinals. Two matches will be played every day leading up to the final, starting from 9am and 1pm.

The group A comprises Middlesex, Heriot-Watt, Bits Pilani and AUD while SZABIST, Bolton, CUD and Preston complete group B. The teams will follow the 20-overs-a-side format.

“We are delighted with the response to the tournament and I am sure it will produce some quality cricket,” said Mazhar Khan of the Sharjah Cricket Council.
