The stage is now set for teams from Groups B and C to join last week’s winners Fly Emirates Green and Synergy Cargo (both Group A qualifiers) in the quarter-finals where they will play alongside some of the renowned international cricket legends. Group B matches take place today and tomorrow while Group C matches will be held on October 9 and 14. The quarter-finals, semi-finals and the finals will be held on October 15.
Arshad Zaheer, managing director of Crayons Communications, organisers of the Dubai Super Sixes 2010, said that the matches were keenly contested.
“There were some really fantastic performances from the youngsters in Group A which demonstrates the high level of maturity among the region’s players,” Zaheer said.
“The two other groups also feature some of the most experienced teams and we are confident of once again witnessing world-class action at the venue over the next two weekends,” he added. Held under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council, the brand ambassador for the inaugural Dubai Super Sixes 2010 tournament is former Pakistan captain and all-rounder Wasim Akram.

As per the rules of this fast-paced game, each participating team should comprise of six players along with two substitutes. They will also be provided with five neutral fielders from a large pool of players. Playing under the supervision of neutral umpires, the format requires each side to play a limited 5 overs, which they have to complete in 30 minutes. Gulf Oil is the main sponsor along with Landmark Group as the associate sponsor. The event is also supported by Khaleej Times, City 101.6 FM, Star Plus, Star One, Kingfisher Airlines, Dubai Sports City, Media Rotana and Edward Steven & Associates.
