REC Calicut claim title

DUBAI - The REC Calicut (REC-NIT REGALS) team lifted the KERA (Kerala Engineers Alumni) Cricket trophy by defeating NSS Palghat (Palakkadan Strikers) by 52 runs in the final of sixth annual KERA Cricket tournament held at Hamriya ground, Ajman last week.

After put into bat, REC openers Siby Isaac and Suresh Raman scored at ease. Siby hit his third half century of the tournament (56 runs off 52 balls), Suresh made 54 runs in 24 balls to put REC in a strong position. Later, Sameer’s 45 runs in 19 balls, Bala’s 25 runs in 9 balls helped REC to reach 218 in 20 overs. For NSS, Vishak took 3 wickets for 25 runs.

In reply, NSS could score only 166 in 20 overs. Vishak (21), Rajesh (21), Rateesh (22), Vinod (21) and Afsal 49 were the main scorers for NSS.

Suresh of REC Calicut was named man-of-the-match and man-of-the-series. Siby Isaac of REC Calicut and Vishant of NSS were adjudged the best batsman and best bowler respectively.
