Rai slams splendid century

DUBAI - Ramveer Rai of Interface Transworld continued with his fine batting performance in the Mobil Cup sponsored by EMA Lubricants and conducted by the Dubai Cricket Council at 7he Sevens as he struck a fine century against Helios C.C. striking sixteen fours and a six in his knock of 112 runs in 57 balls and propelled his team to an imposing total of 267 runs.

Burhan contributed from the top making 57 runs in 43 balls with eight fours and a six. Helios batting crumbled under pressure and they were shot out for 141 runs to hand a 126 run win to Interface.

Nucaf Tellicherry excelled winning both their matches first cruising past Melubco in the morning with a seven wicket win as Hareesh struck a fleunt knock of 75 runs in 49 balls laced with eleven boundaries to race past the target of 153 runs.

Ijaz scored a run a ball knock of 60 runs while Naushad contributed 45 runs as the rest of the Melubco batting struggled to come to terms against the excellent spell of Giby Alex who skittled out five batsmen for just 21 runs and ran away with the man of the match award.

In their afternoon match, Rosy Blue’s Mahesh Dhapa gave his team a fine start with 79 runs in 58 balls including eleven fours, but their other batsmen could not make much headway against the accurate Tellicherry bowling and finished with a meager total of 155 runs which Jaiprakash 42, and Giby Alex 39, rattled off in 17.4 overs to earn a second win for Tellicherry.

Qamar Javed dazzled for Al Manal with a swashbuckling century making 110 runs in 52 balls in which he hit fourteen fours and three sixes, helping his team to a total of 258 runs.

Earlier, Naseem Khan gave them a rousing start with a knock of 52 runs in 27 balls. Robin 46, and Jagath 37, played well for Atlantis but found the Al Manal total daunting and could only muster 196 runs before being all out.
