Invited to bat first at the ICC Global Cricket Academy ground on Thursday, Heriot-Watt capitalised on the fine start by their openers Aqib Malik and Imaad Mushtaq (19) as they amassed 167 run for 7 wickets in 25 overs.

Malik hit two sixers and couple of boundaries during his entertaining knock of 53 runs off 43 balls. After Imaad’s dismissal for 19 runs, Owais Hameed (27 off 22) and Qasim Zubair (24 off 33) kept the runs flowing.

Only Maisam Raza (3 for 24) and A Anil (2 for33) were among the wickets for Middlesex.

In reply, the Heriot-Watt duo of Malik and Zubair followed up their good batting as they excelled with the ball too, as Middlesex were bundled out for 123 in 22.4 overs.

Malik (2 for 11), S Waqas (3 for 52) and Qasim (3 for 25) bowled a tight line as Middlesex batsmen managed only 46 runs in the first 10 overs.

For Middlesex, Harsh Chaturvedi (15) and Raza’s knock of 34 off 27 balls later in the match was the only face saving act. In the under 13 match, Unique Cricket Training (UCT) coasted to a six-wicket win over DPS YTCA.

DPS YTCA, opting to bat, scored a respectable total of 77 for seven in 12 overs.

Openers Mohammad Afzal (10) and Sanjosh Sathya (28) were the top scorers. In reply, UCT lost only four wickets before achieving the target in 8.3 overs.

Junaid Khalid did the bulk of the scoring with 24 runs while Imran Shahid remained unbeaten on 14.
