Helios stun Fly Emirates B; Mahesh, Ravid hit centuries

DUBAI - Mahesh Olaboduwage of Lanka Lions and Ravid of Wings Group struck the first two centuries in the 9th Mobil Cup conducted by the Dubai Cricket Council at the Sevens cricket grounds in Dubai on Friday.

Mahesh’s knock of 108 runs came of just 52 balls in which he struck five huge sixes and ten boundaries and Sarfaraz’s cameo of 65 runs helped their team reach 266 runs in 25 overs scoring at more than 10 runs an over.

Pradeep Chandana with 69 runs and Darshana Jayakody with 47 runs supported the Lions well.

Ravid led Wings group’s reply with a blistering knock of 100 runs in 55 balls which included five hits over the line and eleven fours, however his valiant knock was not enough as they fell 30 runs short as Vishan Fernando with 4 wickets for 43 runs and Nadika Edirisinghe with 2 for 30 led Lanka Lions to a fantastic win.

In the second game played in the afternoon Helios stunned Fly Emirates B by six wickets as Mohammed Owais starred for them with a superb knock of 91 runs in 47 balls in which he hit fourteen boundaries and two sixes.

Fly Emirates batted first and built their total around useful knocks by Bruce Fernando who scored 63 runs, Rizwan Ahmed 32, and Aziz Abbas who made 52 runs to take them to 234 runs in 25 overs.

Helioc CC however took up the challenge rattling off the target with 16 balls to spare as Owais was supported by Azam Sadiq with 42 not out and Meen Abbas with 34 runs.
