The UAE, who were handed a wildcard along with the United States of America, won by 15 runs.

Two teams from the qualifiers will make the cut for the ICC World Twenty20 World Cup to be held in the West Indies this year.

Opener Arfan Haider, who plays for William Hare Abu Dhabi Gymkhana on the domestic circuit, scored 59 from 44 balls as UAE opted to take first strike. His knock was peppered with five boundaries and two sixes. No.4 batsman Saqib Ali scored 31 from 32 balls with two boundaries. Captain Khurram Khan made 28 from 19 balls with four boundaries, while Naeemuddin Aslam made an unbeaten 11 from six balls as UAE posted a competitive 165 for the loss of five wickets in their 20 overs.

In reply, Kenya failed to stand up to the left-arm spin duo of Ahmed Reza and debutant Shadeep Silva and were restricted to 150 for the loss of five wickets in their 20 overs. They started well by putting the UAE fielders under pressure with some quick singles and twos but couldn’t continue as the match wore on.

No.5 batsman Collins Obuya waged a lone battle by top scoring with an unbeaten 42 from 31 balls with three boundaries and a six. Captain and wicketkeeper-batsman Morris Ouma made 39 from 37 balls with a boundary and a six.

Shadeep Silva, who plays for NMC on the domestic circuit, removed opener Steve Tikolo and one-down batsman Alex Obanda leg before. Ahmed Raza was on a hat-trick after removing Morris Ouma, caught by captain Khurram Khan and having Rakep Patel castled. But he failed to record a hat-trick.

Arfan Haider was adjudged the Man of the Match.

UAE, who missed out on qualification in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, are grouped along with The Netherlands, Kenya and Canada.
