Arshad Ali shines as Emirates win

DUBAI - Arshad Ali of Fly Emirates and Vikranth Shetty of Yogi Group played match winning knocks in the crucial quarter-final matches to see their teams through to the next round in the Debonairs Pizza Floodlit Tournament, conducted by the Dubai cricket Council at the ICC Global Academy cricket grounds, a press release said.

Globelink Westar were restricted to a total of 135 runs as Fly Emirates bowled and fielded well with Javed Ismail, Nigel Fernandez and Khurram Khan picking up a two wickets each.

Vineeth Vishwanathan top scored for his team with a bright knock of 46 runs in 36 balls in which he hit one six and four boundaries. Chauhan (25) and Shadab Khan (23) also contributed, while the rest of the Globelink batsmen flopped. Arshad Ali and Khurram Khan got the required runs in 16.5 overs with Arshad (63 not out off 54 balls, seven fours) playing a great knock while Khurram scored 40 off just 23 balls with one six and five fours.

In the second game a strong Seven Seas Strikers team was ousted by Yogi Group in a closely contested game. Seven Seas put up a good score of 169 runs.

A superb knock of 62 runs off 48 balls from the blade of Bilal Murtuza — who hit seven fours and a six in his innings — helped Seven Seas. Kashif Rana was the other batsman to shine with 47 runs off 32 balls.

Ambey Parwatkar and Shiva Pagarani were the pick of the bowlers for Yogi as they picked up a couple of wickets each. In reply, Yogi did lose the early wicket of in-form Shaimon Anwar but Faizan Asif (28) and Vikranth Shetty were unfazed and put on 68 runs.

Vikranth top scored for Yogi Group with 44 runs which included seven fours and a six while contributions from other batsmen saw Yogi through with eight balls to spare.
