Anchor Marine win National Day tourney

DUBAI — Anchor Marine beat Trade Allianz Al Badr CC in the final to lift the UAE National Day 7-A-Side Cricket Cup. The tournament was held on 2 December to celebrate the occasion of UAE National Day, a press release said.

The tourney, held at the Seven Seas Cricket Ground in Dubai Investment Park, was organised by Seven Seas Sports Club under the auspices of Dubai Cricket Council.

All prizes were donated by Freddy Sidhwa and Deepak Arora of City Diamond, and the prizes were distributed by Ghazal legend Ghulam Ali.

In the league matches, Uttaranchal CC beat Desert King Waterproofing by one wicket, ENOC defeated Dubai Spartan by 28 runs, Seven Seas CC beat Eleven On Top by six wickets, Trade Allianz Al Badr thrashed ECT Dubai by six wickets and Anchor Marine beat Uttaranchal CC by seven runs.

In the first semifinal, Trade Allianz Al Badr beat ENOC by five wickets while in the second semifinal, Anchor Marine outclassed Seven Seas by five wickets.

In the final, Anchor Marine beat Trade Allianz Al Badr by 13 runs. Batting first Anchor Marine made 71 in five over. Husnain scored 30 retired. Zahir and Abdul Rehman gave 7 runs each.

Chasing the target, Trade Allianz Al Badr managed only 58 runs in the allotted five overs. Vikrant and Sohail scored 20 each but it was not enough to take the team through. Husnain, Faraz and Kashif picked up one wicket each.

Best Batsman: Husnain of Anchor Marine.

Best Bowler: Sajan of Uttaranchal CC.

Man of the Tournament: Vikrant Shetty of Trade Allianz Al Badr CC.
