Authorities across the UAE have tightened rules when it comes to private parties and gatherings. While one Emirate has banned parties altogether, others have reduced the total number of guests allowed.
Top UAE officials and doctors have time and again blamed crowded get-togethers as the main reason behind spikes in the number of Covid-19 cases. Police chiefs in Dubai and Ajman recently issued reminders to residents to maintain social distancing as they meet and to avoid unnecessary get-togethers.
Here are the latest rules when it comes to private parties across the country.
The UAE's Capital has banned all parties and gatherings, with some exceptions.
Very limited number of guests are allowed at marriage ceremonies, family gatherings and funerals. Marriage ceremonies and family gatherings must have only 10 guests, while mourning tents can host a maximum of 20.
Authorities in Dubai have tighetened the number of guests allowed at parties and weddings. Social events and private parties must host only first-degree relatives, with a maximum of 10 guests.
Previously, a maximum of 200 people were allowed at gatherings organised in halls, hotels and tents, while home parties were limited to 30 guests.
In Sharjah, the Department of Suburbs and Villages Affairs (DSVA) issued fresh guidelines for weddings and other social occasions.
Such gatherings cannot have more than 20 guests. Parties must be socially distanced, with guests having to maintain at least 4 metres of distance between one another.
Tables at venues can seat a maximum of four people.
Guests must avoid physical contacts such as handshakes and hugging each other. The use of face masks is mandatory at all times.
The police recently forced organisers to call off a wedding celebration that included more than 150 people. The police have also fined gatherings that included more than 20 people.
