Covid-19: Dubai-based expat dies of coronavirus complications in UK
Dubai - The 40-year-old was on a short vacation to his home-country to celebrate his birthday with his family.
Father of two, Ryan Storrie, 40, was on a short vacation to his home-country to celebrate his 40th birthday with his family and friends and also to watch his favourite Rangers' match against Bayer Leverkusen in Glasgow on March 12. A week after attending the game Ryan developed fever on on March 20 and tragically died 11 days later.
Storrie is survived by wife Hilary and sons Aaron, 13, and Andrew 11, who were staying with him in a holiday suite in Glasgow city centre during their trip home.
An acquaintance of Storrie and member of the Ranger's fan club, who had met recently, posted: "So sorry to hear about the passing of Ryan, we met him and his family in the airport in Lanzarote last year and he left a lasting impression..he was a real gentleman, heartfelt sympathy to his wife and boys."
In an interview with the Scottish Sun, his wife Hilary said: "As his condition worsened after being in bed for ten days with fever and cough, the NHS advised him to remain isolated and stay in his bedroom at the apartment, where he eventually passed away in his sleep."
Hilary, who is currently in self-isloation along with her sons for 14 days, advised people to take the lockdown advised by the goverment seriously.
Speaking to the local daily she said: "I wish everyone would take the lockdown seriously...If you don't, you will become ill - or you will make someone else ill..I'd urge anyone with any kind of symptoms to isolate."
The NHS urges people with symptoms not leave their homes for at least seven days. The UK hospitals are reportedly only admitting critical cases due to a lack of beds. Around 3,000 people have died of coronavirus in the UK, where over 34,000 cases have been reported, the Scottish Sun said.
