The UAE now leads in mass testing per million people and has conducted more than two million tests.

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Friday announced 638 new cases of Covid-19 infections, 412 cases of recovery and 2 deaths.

The new cases were detected through 36,000 additional tests.

The total number of cases stand at 33,170, while recoveries are 17,097 as on May 29. The death toll has risen to 260.

The ministry wished a speedy recovery to all patients, calling on the public to cooperate with health authorities and comply with all precautionary measures, particularly social distancing, to ensure their safety and protection.

The UAE has conducted more than two million tests so far, making the nation a world leader in terms of Covid-19 tests carried out per million of population.

The country is testing 213,636 people in a million, with the daily testing average equalling the four-month average in other countries. The  UAE is way ahead of even developed countries. The country quickly ramped up its testing infrastructure, and has managed to control the spread effectively.

Meanwhile, Dubai's beaches and parks will reopen from today while the culturally inclined can visit the  city's museums from June 1. It will, however, be a phased reopening for museums with only 50 per cent visitors permitted entry. This follows the Dubai Government's decision to resume economic activity from 6am to 11pm from Wednesday.

Sterilisation routines will be strictly followed, and as part of social distancing rules, visitors will be asked to maintain a distance of two metres from other people.
