their 2004 collections at the exhibition.

The event is being organised annually by the Al Bader, Exhibition Organisers, at Al Khubaissi Celebration and Exhibition Area, Al Ain.

Announcing the event at a Press conference held recently at Al Ain Intercontinental Resort, Khalid Khoory, Chairman and General Manager, said, "Invitations were extended to a number of leading international jewellery industries from the UAE, Lebanon, India and Hong Kong to take part in the fifth edition of AJWEX."

" As one of the leading jewellery events, AJWEX plays a tremendous part in promoting jewellery industry and trade in the UAE as well as the Gulf area," he said.

" It is not only an exhibition, but also a forum through which businessmen, traders, manufacturers as well as individuals can sit together and strike deals and discuss all issues pertaining to the industry," he added.

He also pointed out that the Gulf gold market is ranked fourth in the world arena with more than $ 1 billion annual trade value and expected to witness a great leap throughout the coming years due to the different promotion campaigns that are being streamlined all through the area, of which AJWEX is a forerunner. Based on the previous years' statistics, " The event is expected to lure more 25000 visitors from all over UAE and GCC countries," he added.

The event, which will be on until January 30, is also considered a part and parcel of the Al Ain annual agenda to promote tourism and economic activities that are being pioneered by the Al Ain Economic Development and Tourism Promotion Authority (AAEDTPA) he said.

Visitors to the show will enjoy draws on air-tickets presented by Al Khoory for Travel and Tourism, he said. A denim jacket valued at $1 million was on show, for the first time in the Middle East, at the last year version of AJWAX.

The event is sponsored by the International Gold Council, the General, Al Ain Intercontinental Resort and Kul Al Usra Weekly Magazine, Al Khoory Travel and Tourism, Al Bader Exchange and supported by General Corporation for Exhibitions and AAEDTPA.
