If you've seen Spiderman Homecoming, then you most definitely noticed the sensation that is Zendaya. We've been waiting to watch her in a movie for as long as we can remember. Zendaya is one of those young stars that you know has so much to offer and give us, but for some reason we haven't really seen her do it! Instead we've just been impressed by how mature, witty, intelligent and poised she has been as she's literally grown up in front of our eyes.

From fighting back the criticism about her hair, to being outraged about being photoshopped, we have the utmost respect for Zendaya who has been saying it like it is and has the talent to back it up. Want to know more about Zendaya, read on, reader.

Family first
Zendaya comes from a mixed heritage, Her father is African-American, with Arkansan roots; her mother is white, with German and Scottish ancestry. Both her parents are teachers and she's said that if she wasn't an actress she'd be a teacher. Zendaya has siblings from her father's side, and was born an aunt!

Zendaya's start
Zendaya began her professional career working as a fashion model for Macy's, Mervyns and Old Navy and then in 2009, she was a featured performer in the Kidz Bop music video for its cover of the song Hot n Cold, which was released on Kidz Bop 15 and from 2010 to 2013, she starred in the Disney Channel sitcom Shake It Up as Rocky Blue, making her a household name.

Home Sweet home
Zendaya, who is 21, still lives at home with her parents. It's not because she can't afford a place of her own but because she isn't willing to give up some perks yet. She says she enjoys no alarm clocks, no driving, and all the free food she could want. Can you blame her?

Zendaya Teaches
Zendaya blasted E! host Giuliana Rancic (rightly so) for mocking the dreads hairstyle she wore to the Oscars; Rancic compared her to a hippie pot smoker. "I feel like she smells like patchouli oil or maybe weed," Giuliana said. Well, Zendaya wasn't going to stand for it and wrote a statement on social media which included: "There is already harsh criticism of African-American hair in society without the help of ignorant people who choose to judge others based on the curl of their hair. To say that an 18-year-old young woman with locks must smell of patchouli oil or 'weed' is not only a large stereotype but outrageously offensive. I don't usually feel the need to respond to negative things but certain remarks cannot go unchecked." Giuliana apologised a number of times but no one really cared and she left the show which has also not had a great run since the incident.

Movie future
Like we said, Zendaya is amazing in Spider-Man Homecoming but we are also very excited to see her in the upcoming film The Greatest Showman starring Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams and Zac Efron. Inspired by the imagination of P.T. Barnum, The Greatest Showman is an original musical that celebrates the birth of show business and tells of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation.
