TANISHAA GETS SULTRY

Tanishaa has a pedigree to die for. Sister of Kajol, daughter of erstwhile actress Tanuja, niece of Nutan and the grand daughter of the legendary Shobana Samarth it is surprising that she hasn't yet made a mark in acting.

Having struggled with a few films, the last couple of them being Tango Charlie and the recent Sarkar, Tanishaa can finally hope some firework from Neal n Nikki — primarily because Yash Raj banner is known to resurrect careers.

A tête-à-tête with the actress:

This is one question, which is inevitably obvious — how have you managed to change your looks?

The reason for changing the look was that we wanted a certain kind of image for this girl in Neal n Nikki. We wanted people to notice me and that's what is happening. Even I was trying to angle for a new image, which I am glad happened with such a nice film.

But haven't you lost weight?

Of course, I have worked very hard in the gym. For months, I maintained a strict diet. Also, it helped because I am young now. May be five years later, I wouldn't have achieved what I did in a couple of months.

How have your sister and mother reacted to your new look?

They are extremely happy. Mom loved it. She said that I haven't looked this better before. But she is a mom and so it is expected of her to say good things about me. As a matter of fact, my family has always been supportive. I am very close to my sister too and we are a tight-knit family.

Will Neal n Nikki revive your career?

That depends purely on the response. On my part, all I can hope is that I haven't let down the Yash Raj banner. They are great people to work with.

Didn't the film happen by surprise?

It did. I just got a call one day and an audition later, I was in. Also, I loved the name Nikki. That's a nice name, isn't it?

Even Kajol is making a comeback with Fanaah.

That's a mere coincidence. She is one of the finest actresses we have today. She had to comeback. There was no choice. I think we would have lost a great actress if she had chosen not to work. But she doesn't want to leave her child (Nysa). I think she should be appreciated for managing both home and work now.

Will we ever see Kajol and you working together?

I would be very happy if someone casts us (laughs) but I am sure that the project will have to be special because Kajol is a perfectionist and she needs nothing but the best.
