Nikki becomes a bride

boyfriend of four years, Filipino-Canadian businessman Cris Lina. Cris recently flew in to help Nikki finalize their wedding plans. He also escorted her to the presscon organised by Star Magic for its January birthday celebrators at ABS-CBN’s 9501 restaurant. There, Nikki happily updated the media on their wedding preparations.

The wedding ceremony will be held at the Don Bosco church in Makati. Nikki’s gown will be made by her good friend JC Buendia, who is also designing the suit of the groom and the gowns of the other members of the entourage, which will be composed of the couple’s family and close friends, and Nikki’s colleagues from showbiz. One close friend, Rica Peralejo, will be a bridesmaid.

There is a 10-year gap between them. Cris has also been married once before, and is now separated from his first wife. He has a 15-year-old son who is very close to Nikki.

After the wedding, the couple plans to settle in Canada, “because that’s where Cris’s business is”. But Nikki says that doesn’t mean she’ll be quitting showbiz. In fact, even while their wedding preparations were ongoing, he allowed her to shoot for the upcoming Piolo Pascual-Claudine Barretto soap, titled Walang Kapalit.

“And even if we’ll be settling in Canada , we agreed that if there’s a good offer, that I can come back to Manila to work,” says Nikki.

She is feeling both overwhelmed and blessed by everything that is coming her way. “It’s hard to explain, but I feel both excited and nervous,” Nikki told the media. “This is such a big thing for me.”
