In the summer time....

WHILE MOST of them still make pit stops in the proverbial May-July holiday destination -London, others have started prowling those places less visited, but very high on the hottest-spot-of-the season list.

From their annual favourite, to the new ones they have just discovered -here's our list of those places you should go to if you want to dine next to, swim near or shop with your favourite star.

Shah Rukh Khan: London is Shah Rukh's favourite summer spot; and like last year this year too Shah Rukh went off to London with wife Gauri and kids. But this time the actor had company, good friend Juhi Chawla and her kids. After spending time in London they then took off for Europe. They made for plenty of eye candy at Disney land, Paris, where onlookers reveal Shah Rukh, Juhi and Gauri seemed to enjoy the rides much more than the kids.

Aishwarya -Abhishek: After playing much hide and seek with the media during their star-studded wedding, Abhishek and Aishwarya Bachchan kept the media guessing about their honeymoon location too. The couple boarded a Singapore airlines flight to Florence in Italy and from there proceeded to the romantic Bora Bora island in French Polynesia. The couple were snapped by locals shopping at an Apple shop in France.

Preity Zinta: Preity Zinta's a big fan of Australia, while this year the actress is busy shooting, in 2006 she made a short trip to Sydney with boyfriend Ness Wadia. The bubbly actress loves the night life in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. "I love outdoor activities and whenever I'm in Australia I make it a point to indulge in some adventure sports, trekking, white water rafting, kayaking. You name it and I've done it!" exclaims Preity. Australia is boyfriend Ness' mother's favourite place too.

Aftab Shivdasani: What better cure than a long vacation to nurse a broken heart? After breaking up with girlfriend Yana Gupta, Aftab went off on a long vacation along with his cousins to USA, Canada and Central America. And unlike many stars who prefer A-class holidays, Aftab was on a backpacking trip and experienced the simple life, "We travelled economy class, walked, took cabs and did everything that the locals did. It was quite an enriching experience," says the actor.

Akshay Kumar: Last year, it was romantic Spain for Akshay Kumar and family, where the actor even chased a thief. This summer Akshay and family took off to the romantic beaches of the Caribbean. Reportedly, Akshay's son Aarav simply loves the beaches and the doting dad that Akshay is he took Aarav all the way there.

Lara Dutta: Following the footsteps of her current co-star Preity Zinta, Lara took a break and went off to Australia and describes it as the best holiday of her life, "I just needed to get away from Mumbai," but Lara's vacation didn't end in Australia. She flew down to Goa from Australia and made full use of the beaches, indulging in all forms of water sports. Having broken off with long time boyfriend Kelly Dorjee this time Lara was enjoying the sun and sands of Goa all alone.

Tusshar Kapoor: Tusshar Kapoor doesn't want to holiday far away from home hence his choice of place is Dubai, "I'm a complete foodie and Dubai is like heaven to me. It's got some of the most awesome restaurants especially in the Pyramids at Wafi." The actor also loves to shop at the Mall of the Emirates, "I always look forward to going to Dubai because it only gets bigger and better each time," he concludes.

Shilpa Shetty: Shilpa Shetty's favourite holiday spot is no longer the States; Shilpa's now shifted loyalties to UK. No points for guessing why? These days she's making good use of her new found popularity in the UK and busy promoting her perfume brand S2, which she recently launched in London. Shilpa plans to buy an apartment there.

Kajol: Ajay Devgan and Kajol are busy working this summer. Apparently the Devgan family is busy shooting Ajay's directorial debut U Me Aur Hum in a luxury cruise. While both mum and dad are busy shooting, grand-mum Tanuja reportedly gives company to little Nysa. A crew member tells us that dad Ajay has promised Nysa a holiday in Goa after he finishes shooting the second schedule of his film.

Riya Sen: Riya Sen can't stop talking about her favourite holiday spot, Bangkok. A complete sucker for all the good things in life, Riya made good use of all the expensive spas and resorts in Bangkok while Raima got hooked on to Thai sea-food, "the food there especially, the red snapper was simply yummy." says Raima.

Amrita Arora: Holiday is where love is, seems to be Amrita Arora's mantra in life. Whenever the actress gets a long break from work she is off to London to spend some time with beau Usman Afzal. She watches him play cricket in the day and at night the couple freak out at Amrita's favourite restaurant, Nobu and Benehana.

Amisha Patel: Amisha Patel has no choice but to spend her summer in Rajasthan, the actress is there busy shooting for Priyadarshan's Bhool Bhulaiya. But rather than stressing over spending her summer working, Amisha put it to good use and discovered the historical town of Jaipur.

Nana Patekar: Nana Patekar is a home bird; the slightest chance that he gets he's off to his hometown Pune, which is about a three-hour drive from Mumbai. "My idea of a holiday is to just spend some time in tranquility and do something apart from the routine and Pune gives me ample opportunity to do such stuff," Nana says.

Ashmit Patel: Ashmit Patel and Goa go together, "It's the best place to go when you want to holiday somewhere closer to home!" The actor loves the laid-back, gypsy feel that Goa has to offer. He even confesses that someday he plans to build his dream house in Goa.

Tabu: The reclusive and talented Tabu's idea of a good holiday is to whisk of to hometown Hyderabad where she has recently built her dream-house, a duplex bungalow. Apparently, Tabu treats her guests with special home-made Biryani and Kebabs.

Suniel Shetty: Currently busy shooting the reality show Biggest Loser Jeetega, Suniel treated his family to a mini vacation during the IIFA awards 2007 in London. "I've been really busy with my television show and haven't been able to go for a holiday but I've promised to take my kids to the US for a long vacation once I'm done with my TV show!"

Manisha Koirala: Manisha Koirala loves the hills and is spending summer visiting her homeland Nepal. The actress flew down to her home-town of Pokhra and caught up with her cousins; but ask her about her favourite city and pat comes the answer, "London, it's like a second home for me. It lets me be myself," she muses.

Sikander Kher: New comer Sikander Kher enjoyed the summer in New York, which also happens to be his favourite city. A sports freak Sikander does all his sports shopping in New York, "New York has some of the best sports shops," says the actor.
