The Christmas season is here! Very soon we will be hearing that Christmas is not merely celebrating parties and glorifying Santa Claus. We might also be told not to encourage our kids to participate in the Christmas festivities and instead teach them about the virtues of charity, goodwill and brotherhood, which Christmas is all about.

Let’s lighten up a bit. These virtues are ones, which should be instilled in our children throughout the year and not only during the Christmas season.

The true joy of Christmas, although lost amongst some of us adults, can always be seen in the eyes of and smile of a child. Let not our lukewarm reactions to this joyous season hinder the spirit of our children. Whatever the beliefs of the family, Christmas gives an ideal opportunity for the children to see happy faces, wish merry greetings, forgive whoever has wronged them in the past year and start a new year with a fresh outlook and clean heart.

So take your kids to Christmas parties, let them meet Santa, sing carols, exchange gifts, devour sweets and most of all spread the message of peace and happiness to everyone they meet. Hopefully we "grown ups" might learn a thing or two. We have not been able to completely understand the true meaning of Christmas and let’s not take it out on the kids.

The write up on soon to be father Tom Cruise and his fiancée Katie Holmes was quite interesting. Finally it seems he has found a perfect soulmate in Katie but knowing Tom’s overly obsession with scientology one wonders if this relationship lasts forever. He has professed his undying love to all his previous soulmates too but it fizzled out rapidly. Hope Katie and their bundle of joy bring the much needed happiness and bright sunshine into his life. - Jayashree Kulkarni

This whole issue of men marrying men and women marrying women being given a licence by the British government is appalling. Whatever happened to good ol' fashioned relationships when men dated women?
