Brown, 21, was sentenced in August last year to five years probation, a year-long domestic violence program and 180 days of community labor, after admitting assaulting Rihanna on the eve of the Grammy Awards in February 2009.
“I really want to commend you for taking responsibility and for actually working diligently to complete all the things the court has required of you,” said LA Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg.
“I know that you will finish your domestic violence counseling program in just seven more sessions, which is excellent,” she added.
The attack on Rihanna shocked the music world and left Rihanna nursing cuts and bruises to her face, forcing her to cancel a performance at the awards show.
Affidavits in the case alleged Brown slammed Rihanna’s head against the window of a car the couple were traveling in before punching and biting her.
The judge Thursday noted that he had completed a total of 581 hours of community service, out of the 180 days which he must carry out, saying: “That is also commendable, very commendable.”
“You’ve done a very good job,” the judge told Brown before ordering him to return to court on January 28.
Brown postponed a series of concerts in Britain in June after being refused a visa over his sentence for assaulting ex-girlfriend Rihanna, his tour organizers and officials said Tuesday.
