thereby endangering the lives of the elderly and children besides disturbing the public.

Disclosing this, Brigadier Ali Saeed Al Matroushi, Director of Traffic and Accident Section, said that a number of other vehicles involved in traffic violations, particularly reckless driving, were also confiscated for at least six months.

Brig Matroushi explained that these actions were taken following a large number of complaints from the public about the rash driving that could cause serious injuries and damage to properties. “Reckless driving might cause either death or permanent disability,” he commented.

The campaign has also been intensified for the Eid period to confiscate vehicles involved in exceeding speed limits. Vehicles with loud exhausts will also be confiscated, he said.

Brig Matroushi said the department in coordination with criminal investigation section of Ajman police has deployed patrols for the Eid days to minimise the number of violations to ensure safety of the public in all residential areas.

He stressed that the officers deployed in the residential areas will not tolerate those who endanger the life and limb of the innocent people and immediately take legal action to punish them.

Brig Matroushi said that during the campaign the officers are also examining the validity of licences and detecting the vehicles with modified sounds.

The campaign is aimed at spreading safety awareness among young people and educate them about the importance of abiding by the traffic rules to ensure public safety .
