In a statement to Wam at a joint Malaysian-UAE workshop in Dubai yesterday, Al Qasimi said her meeting with Malaysian Minister of Foreign Trade and Industry Rafida Aziz, explored venues of economic, trade and investment cooperation between their two countries.

For her part, the Malaysian minister said trading volume between the UAE and Malaysia reached $3.2 billion — an increase of 19.4 per cent since 2005.

She added that Malaysian imports into the UAE grew by 21.1 per cent to reach $938.3 million with jewellery and precious stones topping the list.

"Unemployment in Malaysia is no more than 3.5 per cent and the foreign currency reserves of the country reached $86.9 billion last February," she said. The Malaysian minister is leading a 80-member high-ranking economic and investment delegation on a regional tour.
