Sergy and Serifa top at Carpetland

DUBAI — The father-daughter combine of Sergy and Serifa D’Souza were victorious with a superb 42 stableford points in the first Carpetland Open at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club.

Both the 8-handicappers from Dubai Creek played steady golf and their score was helped by two excellent birdies from young Serifa on the par 4 first hole and the short 14th.

After the game Sergy said, “Despite the sizzling heat we managed to keep focus and play a solid round of golf. We coordinated well as a team and are pleased to be qualified for the finals.”

Dubai Creek members Stephen Fidler and Paul Chader beat Alok Pant and Malay Shah for second spot on the count back after both teams posted 40 points.

Winning the nearest the pin prize was Carpetland’s very own Shahriar Khodjasteh.

Khodjasteh announced that last year the series of events had raised over Dh250,000 for the ‘Friends of Cancer Patients’ charity and that he hoped that this season they would contribute closer to half a million to the worthy cause”. The longest drive prize was picked up by up and coming Creek youngster Punya Khanna.
