Qatar’s Nakilat Q1 net profit rises 20.2 pct

DOHA - Qatar Gas Transport Co. QGTS.QA (Nakilat), the largest Middle East gas shipper by market value, said its first-quarter net profit rose 20.2 percent to 23.2 million riyals.

Nakilat made a net profit of 19.3 million riyals in the first quarter of 2006, it said in a statement on the Doha bourse Web site.

Earnings per share were 0.04 riyals in the first quarter, compared with 0.03 riyals in the year-earlier period, the company said.

Total income in the first quarter was 29.02 million riyals, up from 23.07 million in the first quarter last year.

The first-quarter 2007 income included 4.40 million riyals in income for marine and agency services, 8.54 million in profits from Islamic banks and 11.76 million from the share of profits from joint ventures.
