“Nurseries at workplaces are a must to enhance the productivity of women and acknowledge their efforts to create a balance between (their) work and family responsibilities,” according to Fawziya Zainal, a leading social activist. Talking about her own experience in this context in the eighties she told Khaleej Times: “Besides my regular job at the Ministry of Information, I was one of the founders of a nursery at my workplace and voluntary worked in running its affairs from the beginning until it was closed down in 2007 for some administrative reason.” She said her then three-year-old son was looked after in the nursery until he joined school.
