The 21st edition of the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (Wetex 2019), has seen increased global participation, with several countries taking the opportunity to participate at the exhibition for the very first time, officials said.

Organised by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), the event will run from October 21-23, 2019 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre alongside the fourth Dubai Solar Show, under the umbrella of Green Week. Among the countries that made their debut at this year's event were Egypt, Singapore, and Chile.

"This year, Wetex has welcomed several countries for the first time. This supports Dubai's efforts to become a global hub of green economy and sustainable development. It further highlights the pivotal role of Dubai as a as a direct gateway to the major growth markets in the Middle East and a major player in directing global efforts towards the adoption of a green economy model," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of Dewa, and founder and chairman of Wetex.

"Widespread international participation underscores the high confidence in WETEX as a leading platform to explore innovative solutions in water, energy, environment technologies. The regional and Arab participation in the 21st Wetex strengthens the Middle East and North Africa's efforts to achieve the goals of sustainable development, and accelerate transforming into green economy for generations to come," he added.

Direct Emirati investments in Egypt have reached almost Dh30 billion, including Dh24.3 billion already made, and Dh5.5 billion underway. Around 877 Emirati companies are operating in Egypt, working across 15 different sectors, making the UAE the largest and most diverse Arab investor in Egypt.

Singapore also marked its first-ever participation at the show, with five Singaporean companies highlighting their latest innovative products in aerial data collection and analysis for solar plants through drones using AI, advanced water treatment and purification systems for emergencies, air purification and equipment cleaning products, power plants, and steam converters for desalination plants that work to achieve significant energy savings.

In response to the UAE's invitation to highlight Chile's experience and innovative solutions in water and solar technologies, two leading Chilean companies - Crystal Lagoons and HH Solar - are also participating in the exhibitions. Crystal Lagoons will exhibit its technology that allows crystalline lagoons of unlimited sizes to be built and maintained at very low costs using a minimum number of additives and energy. HH Solar focuses on the implementation of photovoltaic solar power projects, and will display its range of innovative solutions and products in solar pumps, atmospheric water generation, rural drinking water and solar lighting at its stand.
