The DCT platform was designed for people who are on the move and can be used to store data for a wide range of digital entertainment products, including camcorders and portable video players, as well as portable PCs and smart handheld devices.

Elias Abou-Rustom, Marketing Director at Arab Business Machine Ltd (ABM), the leading Iomega's products distributor in the region said, "This device will store up to 10 times more information than the conventional floppy disk that is currently available in the market."

"I am very confident that this device will be of a great value in the market. The Middle East business segment is growing rapidly and keeping up with the rest of the world means manageable and reliable documentation of vital data. This product has the potential to be one of the most useful tools for saving information; surpassing the popularity of writable CDs. Companies in the Middle East need devices like this one to back up their work," he added.

"Existing portable storage solutions in today's consumer electronics products are too expensive, too slow, too fragile, or too power hungry for the coming generation of mobile devices," said Giri Rajan, Product Manager at ABM, "Iomega's exciting new platform is different. It is being designed to offer the industry a low-cost drive with high capacity in a convenient form factor. It is a product designer's dream because it can provide high capacity, rugged, shock resistant storage at low power consumption for small portable devices such as next generation camcorders, personal video recorders and tablet PCs."
