Michael Craig, regional director for Invest NI in Dubai said: "The opening of Invest Northern Ireland's office at Dubai Internet City strengthens the long-standing relationship between the UAE and Northern Ireland, a region of the United Kingdom, that stretches back more than two decades."

The Belfast-based NI is a non-departmental public body responsible to the Northern Ireland Minister of Enterprise, Trade and Investment. It has the mission of supporting the growth of Northern Ireland businesses both within the UK and abroad. "The move to Dubai Internet City represents an increased commitment of Northern Ireland to build ties with the region," Craig added.

The Dubai office is being developed as a trade and technology transfer hub for Northern Ireland companies to increase business throughout the Gulf, the Middle East and the Indian sub-continent. Dr Omar Bin Sulaiman, CEO of DIC said: "We are confident that Invest NI will prove to be a strong bridge between the ICT communities of Dubai and Northern Ireland. The fast-growing ICT markets in the region offer exceptional opportunities for Northern Irish ICT companies. DICy is the ideal strategic base for Northern Ireland companies to tap these new emerging markets in this region."
