The purpose of the Robotics programme at Global Indian International School (GIIS) Abu Dhabi is to instill creative thinking with a blend of art, science, math and logical reasoning. Holistic development of a child forms the base of all educational programmes that are conducted in GIIS.
Robotics has been identified as one of the learning tool's that can add to the many holistic programmes which are currently being conducted in our school. It adds a dimension of fun and excitement in learning those subjects that students may generally consider dull and boring, such as science and math. The main areas of development that our robotics programs cover are force, motion, mechanics and programming. However, other skills such as team-building, project management, critical thinking, logical analysis are significantly improved amongst students who are engaged with Robotics. Team building skills is developed as students will be working in groups of 3 to 5 members towards completing a given task.
The ultimate goal of the robotics programs is to make students independent in a manner that they are able to create their own bots that will serve as a solution to a problem statement. The course enable students to gain the experience and knowledge required to develop the skill of independent learning and building. The journey of the course will be inclined towards creating independent solutions
The robotics programme at GIIS will ultimately be part of a Makers Lab in which students will get an opportunity to design, create and prototype their own parts that will serve as building blocks for robots.
