Etisalat announced on Monday it was recognised as 'Best Regional Wholesale Carrier' at the prestigious Telecoms World Middle East Awards gala event in Dubai. This marks a record sixth year that Etisalat has won this award.
Etisalat was shortlisted among top telecom companies for its success in the wholesale business as the 'Best Regional Wholesale Carrier' and bagged the 'Digital Transformation Award - Operator' award at the regional telecom event.
Etisalat has been expanding its global reach over the past years through strategic investments in various cable systems. Its network modernisation, core international network capabilities and expansion of its global reach, innovative wholesale services portfolio and its partnerships with major cloud and content providers hosted at its SmartHub, made Etisalat a strong contender in this category.
Ali Amiri, Group Chief Carrier and Wholesale Officer, Etisalat, said: "We are delighted to receive this award which highlights Etisalat's core international network capabilities, reach and commitment to quality as well as the capabilities and success of our SmartHub and the strategic partnerships we have formed over the years. This recognition is also largely due to the trust put in us by our valued customers and loyal partners to deliver the highest quality and innovative international services."
Etisalat is a premium wholesale provider and the preferred wholesale hub in the region where its Smarthub offers reliable infrastructure services to more than 52 high profile carriers and content providers to strategically locate PoPs in the region, which gives universal connectivity with a full portfolio of wholesale services. Such a wide range of services makes Etisalat the most integrated provider of wholesale services in the MENA region.
Dr Ahmed bin Ali, Group Senior Vice-President, Corporate Communications, Etisalat who accepted the 'Digital Transformation Award' on behalf of the company, said: "Winning this prestigious award is a great achievement for Etisalat, which has consistently set the leadership benchmark in technology. As a company our overall strategy 'Driving the Digital Future to Empower Societies' is focused on making this digital future a reality and bringing technologies of the future to all our customers across our markets. Our infrastructure plays a key role in the country's ambitions to get digitally competitive and bring in digital transformation."
As a technology leader in MENA, Etisalat became the first to launch mobile communications with 3G in 2004, 4G in 2011, and most recently 5G services. 5G technologies and the network will deliver capacity and connectivity along with opportunities for economic growth, education, healthcare, transportation and more. Etisalat has continued to break barriers, deploying automation and AI technology. At the beginning of 2019, Etisalat declared reaching the 'AI adoption milestone'. Etisalat will remain the backbone and benchmark in digitalisation.
The awards ceremony was part of the two-day Telecoms World Middle East conference in Dubai. The winners were chosen by an independent a panel of expert judges assembled by Terrapinn, the organisers of the annual Telecoms World Middle East conference and awards.
