SEOUL — Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Company (DSME) has won a $384 million order from the Iranian government to build three crude carriers, the company said yesterday.
Daewoo will construct three 318,000-ton very large crude carriers (VLCC), each worth $128 million, the highest price for a VLCC in recent years, for the National Iranian Tanker Company, a state-run maritime agency.
Final delivery of the containers is scheduled for October 2009.
Daewoo has obtained orders for 15 ships worth a total of $2.63 billion so far this year, achieving 44 per cent of its annual target.
