Banks' 9-month consolidated accounts in UAE soar

ABU DHABI - Consolidated accounts of the banks operating in the United Arab Emirates rose to 414 billion dirhams by the end of September 2004, from 397 billion dirhams within the same period of 2003.

According to the UAE central bank’s quarterly bulletin, published today, credit and local investments jumped from 197 billion dirhams to 264 billion. By the end of 2004’s third quarter, credit facilities saw an increase to 238 billion dirhams from 189 billion in the same period of 2003.

Deposits surged from 44 billion dirhams to 57 billion dirhams.
