Passengers from the UAE flying to five major cities in India have another week to enjoy 50kg of free baggage allowances on Air India flights. India's national carrier will offer 50kg free baggage allowance on flights to major Indian cities from the region up to December 10.
The offer is applicable for economy and business class passengers. However, airline officials confirmed that airport regulation of 32kg per piece still applies.
"Passengers on flights from Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah to Chennai, Kochi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad will be allowed 50kg free baggage allowance till December 10," said Sandeep Kumar, marketing manager, Gulf, Middle East, and Africa Air India Ltd, adding that the facility is subject to availability of load. The promotional baggage allowance is valid for tickets booked on or after October 25 for travel till December 10.
Flights from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai have a 50kg allowance for travel effective from September 16 to December 10. However, ticket holders for flights from Dubai to Chennai, Kochi, Mumbai and Hyderabad issued on or after October 25 can travel with the additional baggage until December 10. Meanwhile, only business class passengers from Sharjah to Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram can enjoy a 50kg free baggage allowance.
Economy class flights from Dubai to Delhi and Kozhikode; and Sharjah to Trivandrum and Kozhikode have an allowance of 40kg as well. Flights from other destinations in the region, including Riyadh, Dammam, Muscat, and Kuwait are also offering promotional baggage allowance.
