Al Otaiba plans deals with UK, Italy firms

DUBAI — The Dubai-based Mohamed Hareb Al Otaiba Group is currently in discussion with UK and Italy based companies to represent several products from the food service equipment industry, said Sunil Prabhakaran, the group's chief executive officer.

Prabhakaran said: "We are right now holding discussion with various companies to represent the products. This will help MHAO to establish its image as a complete turnkey service provider across the entire value chain in the food service equipment industry. The company is geared up to display new range of commercial kitchen equipment at Gulffood exhibition. Buoyed by strong growth in the regional tourism and food industry, MHAO announced plans to participate in the forthcoming Gulfood 2005 exhibition at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre from February 20 to 23."

"Our participation at this year's event is designed to strengthen our position within the industry as well as showcase our range of commercial kitchen equipment including top brands such as Hobart Kitchen Equipment, Foster Refrigeration, Convotherm Combi Steamers, Garland Cooking Ranges, Vent Master Ventilation Systems, Cimbali Coffee Machines and Scotsman Ice Systems. According to industry estimates, business from the food sales in the region are projected at around $31.7 billion of which the GCC accounts for around $9.5 billion. Practically 98 per cent of the food-related products and equipment from the GCC has to be imported," pointed Prabhakaran.

MHAO also looks forward to steer enhanced results through effective brand and product mix management and higher levels of sales over the coming year. The company's commercial kitchen equipment division leads the regional market in the supply of commercial kitchen paraphernalia to the fast growing hotel, restaurant and catering business in the country. Al Otaiba's clients include prestigious names such as Jumeirah Beach Resort Hotel, Dubai World Trade Centre, Hilton and Intercontinental Hotels, Planet Hollywood and Metropolitan Hotels among others. Gulfood 2005 incorporates the Emirates International Salon Culinaire competition of which the MHAO Group is one of the major sponsors, added Prabhakaran.
