ADSB ties up with Alenia Marconi of Italy

ABU DHABI — Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) and the Italian firm Alenia Marconi Systems SpA have joined hands to establish a company which will install integrated defence systems on the new corvettes to be built in the country.

The new company — Abu Dhabi Systems Integration (ADSI) — will initially provide a broad range of defence systems, products and services for naval platforms. ADSI will be located in Abu Dhabi, and will offer state-of-the-art defence system integration capabilities along with a full spectrum of related services including programme management, systems upgrades, equipment maintenance, customer training and logistics support.

Abdullah Nasser Al Mansouri, Chairman of ADSB speaking at a press conference said that the Baynunah project will the first order for the new company.

ADSI will the first joint venture of its kind in the Arabian Gulf and will result in the first company in the area to provide world-class defence system integration capabilities. Regional military customers will for the first time have a local alternative to the traditional defence system integrators from Europe or North America.

By combining a strong local presence with the most sophisticated sensor and software technology, the joint venture partners intend to provide the latest in naval defence system capabilities.

ADSB and Alenia are already working together to formally establish the new company.
