The awards acknowledge Abu Dhabi Airports Company’s (ADAC) continuous commitment towards promoting a culture of excellence throughout Abu Dhabi International Airport, from customer service through to future expansion plans.

ADAC provides a large choice of top quality services to all its passengers and customers, ranging from retail, food & beverage, airport lounges, airport hotel, meet and greet services (Golden-Class), to car park services and the Al Ghazal Golf Club. In 2010, Abu Dhabi Duty Free launched its new retail and F&B brand; Shop-Dine-Unwind (SDU) offers a whole new travelling experience to passengers, including more duty free retail space featuring luxury boutiques such as Hermes, Jimmy Choo and Burberry.

Focusing on its double-digit growth for 2010, which saw the Capital’s airport welcome 11 million passengers, and the dynamic traffic development in the coming years, in line with the 2030 Abu Dhabi plan, ADAC has embarked in a capacity enhancement programme in its current terminals, which also includes the complete refurbishment of Terminal 1, as well as the construction of the iconic Midfield Terminal.

James E. Bennett, Chief Executive Officer for Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) commented “ADAC is delighted to accept this prestigious ‘Best Airport in the Middle East’ award for Abu Dhabi International, which is testimony to our enduring culture of quality and excellence. We remain committed to driving sustainable growth in Abu Dhabi International Airport, through investment and growth and building on our high levels of customer service, to ensure we see more similar awards and many more happy business and leisure travelers in years to come.”

“We would also like to extend our gratitude to our retail partners DFS and other concessionaires such as Boots, Ibn Sina Pharmacy and Pure Gold; just to name a few, as their presence within the duty free has helped us provide leading global brands and retail stores to suit all tastes and types of passengers” Added Bennett.

In February this year, ADIA ranked ‘2nd Best Service Provider’ in the Airports Council International (ACI) ASQ Survey results for the Middle East Region for excelling in operational efficiency of the airport and the quality of service offered.

The Business Destinations Travel Awards is organized by the British magazine, Business Developments, and the winning airport was picked from a number of nominees chosen by a panel using criteria such as innovation, originality and quality of services, in addition to long term growth strategies. The readers of Business Destinations are then asked to vote on the panel’s nominees in an online poll.
