Abu Dhabi — Etihad Airways has introduced its second Boeing 787 Dreamliner into commercial service, providing capital-to-capital service between Washington, D.C., and Abu Dhabi.
The Boeing 787-9 departed Abu Dhabi at 11.30am on Sunday, as flight EY131 to Washington, D.C. The flight arrived at 6.45pm the same evening. The return service from Washington, D.C. to Abu Dhabi departed as EY130 at 10.50pm with a scheduled arrival time of 7.45pm on Monday.
A welcome ceremony was held at the arrival gate at Washington’s Dulles International Airport (IAD) to mark the occasion.
Etihad Airways’ order for two variants of the B787 (-9 and -10), is one of the largest for the type, totalling 71 aircraft.
