The UAE's oldest motorsport club that brought international level motorsport to the country has been honoured with a set of commemorative stamps on its 50th anniversary.
The Emirates Post Group (EPG) released the stamps to mark the golden jubilee of the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE (ATCUAE), one of the oldest national organisations in the country.
The club was chaired by Shaikh Mohammed bin Salim Al Qasimi, founder, and Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.
In 2006, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai, became the organisation's honorary president.
Acting President of EPG, Fahad Al Hosani said: "Emirates Post Group has always supported organisations that work relentlessly for the community and promote sporting activities. We therefore decided to mark the golden jubilee of Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE with special stamps that portray the unique contribution of the Club to the motorsport in the UAE."
"We are pleased to recognise the role played by the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE in the development of motorsport in the UAE, through these special stamps," said Chief Commercial Officer of EPG, Ibrahim bin Karam.
"Thanks to its efforts, motorsport has reached international levels in the UAE, and we have produced some great champions. The issuing of these stamps is part of EPG's ongoing collaboration with government entities to promote their landmark achievements," he said.
The stamps issued in the denominations of Dh3 and Dh1 are available at all post offices in the UAE, along with a First Day Cover and a Souvenir Sheet.
