Ajman - At a Ramadan majlis in the emirate, attended by women decision makers, business women, women of various social sectors and media representitives, a united call was made by the women urging the authorities to develop stringent regulations for owners of buildings and villas to implement precautionary measure to prevent increasing fire accidents in the emirate.
The Ramdan Majlis was organised by Rawdah Al Reyaysa at her house Al Jarf area.
The women at the Majlis discussed the issue of the increase in the number of fire accidents in residential buildings villas, and houses.
They attributed it to lack of awareness tough rules to force the landlords to follow maximum fire preventive measures. They said that the civil defence approval before construction should be a must to issue construction licence. The participants also stressed on the importance of raising awareness among residents about following preventive measures to prevent fire accidents first aid. They also said villas and building must be linked to the operations room of the civil defence to ensure prompt action if any fire erupts.
The women also said that fire protection and preventive measures and procedure must be also included in school curriclum as students should also be aware about the safety procedures and first aid in any fire incidences. This would support the efforts of civil defence in dealing with fire incidents and reducing them.
“The efforts of civil defence and authorities concerned in reducing fire accidents cannot be realised without increasing awareness among community members,” participants agreed. -afkarali@khaleejtimes.com
