Winners of excellence awards honoured at a special function

ABU DHABI — General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, said yesterday that promoting government performance was one of the key pillars of the Abu Dhabi Government’s strategic vision and its drive for bringing about sustainable development.

He made these remarks on Wednesday while attending at the Emirates Palace a special gala to honour the winners of Abu Dhabi Government Excellence Awards.

Shaikh Mohammed then honoured the winners of the Award’s first edition. Winners of Category 1 included the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the general headquarters of Abu Dhabi Police, the Health Authority, Abu Dhabi, the Environment Authority, Zayed House for Charitable Works, Abu Dhabi Electricity and Water Authority, and the Department of Economy and Planning.

Winners of category 2 included Abu Dhabi Police’s INS-scanning project, and Abu Dhabi Electricity and Water Authority’s business management system. Category 3 awards recognised outstanding performance of several government employees.

Mohammed Ahmed Al Bawardi, Secretary-General of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, described the award as a milestone in Abu Dhabi’s development drive under the guidance of Shaikh Mohammed.
