Ajman Municipality is taking all necessary steps to tackle the problem. It has dispatched vehicles to drain the water. The municipality is also planning to take precautionary measures to prevent such damages as more showers are expected to hit the emirate during this time of the year.

Saif Al Shamsi, Deputy Director-General of the Ajman Municipality, told Khaleej Times that employees of the Works Section had been assigned to solve the problem of water-logging in the roundabouts.

The Works Section employees have also been asked to work round the clock to reconstruct the roads damaged by the rain, he added.

“Workers are trying their best to drain the water that disrupted traffic and blocked main roads.”

“They have also removed trees, signboards and other objects that are blocking the roads,” he said.

Al Shamsi also said in the event of a deluge, the municipality and Civil Defence Department will join hands to take prompt action.

Staff members from the municipality’s Emergency Section will also be assigned to patrol various areas in the emirate for prompt intervention, he added.

The precautionary measures also include reconstruction of roads in some residential areas like Al Bustan and Al Naimia.

“The work on improving the drainage system is being carried out in various residential areas,” added Al Shamsi.
