A video has gone viral purportedly showing Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte giving a patriotic speech whilst driving a cab. The video was taken by Rachelle Oyette Dequina which she shared on her Facebook page. Since being posted, her video has garnered 12 million, 144,441 shares and over 232,000 reactions.
But upon closer look, it's not really Philippine president, but rather someone who sounds exactly like him.
According to CNN Philippines, Elcias Bugsad was the man driving the cab as well as the impeccable impersonation of Duterte. The video shows him mimicking Duterte's iconic lines such as: 'Drugs, my god I hate drugs.' He also segues into why he is now working as a cabbie - all while never breaking character.
This exchange between comments about the presidency as well as being cabbie continues for about 8 minutes. When asked about his identity, Bugsad slightly responds 'My name is DU32 - president by day, cabbie by night,' - a nod at the Philippine president's DU30 moniker and to reports of Duterte moonlighting as a cab driver back in his hometown of Davao.
