Apple and Samsung's latest offerings were put in a series of tests recently and the results are out - the iPhone XS Max is faster than Samsung's Galaxy Note 9. One particular vlogger devised a test of the two smartphones that is backed by data and an actual methodology. Many speed tests conducted by other vloggers are often not based on any science. The most 'accurate' and scientific of these tests is the one conducted by PhoneBuff.
PhoneBuff's speed test comprises several stages, BGR News reports. First, he opens a series of apps on each phone in the same order while timing the first "lap." He also performs certain functions such as opening spreadsheets in Excel to show viewers how fast each phone can open complex applications. He then does a second "lap" where he opens the same app from the background - putting the RAM of each phone to the test. To make it more precise, he uses a robot to control each phone during the tests, removing the human error from the equation.
Spec-wise, the Note 9 has twice as much RAM as the iPhone XS Max. Both are running the latest chipsets from their brands. Below you can see the full speed test and see how both phones fare.
