The child's aunt highlighted the family's deep appreciation of the city, known for its exceptional safety
The accident caused nearly two hours of traffic congestion on the Emirates Ring Road.
The police said the accident occurred when a car coming from Ajman and heading towards Sharjah deviated to the right side as its driver lost control and smashed into the iron barriers dividing the road. The car was thrown over to other side and it crashed into another car coming from the opposite direction.
The driver of the car, which had jumped over to the other lane after hitting the iron barriers, Mohammed (23), and Rashid, a co-traveller seated in front, died on the spot. A UAE national woman and a male traveller who were in the back seat, suffered serious injuries and were rushed to Al Qasimi Hospital.
Major Sultan Al Juwaid, Head of the Anjad Patrol unit, urged motorists to be cautious while driving on the highways and said they should abide by the speed limit for their own safety.
A source at the Al Qasimi Hospital told Khaleej Times that the condition of the 20-year-old, “who suffered serious injuries in his chest and back and had also suffered internal bleeding, was very serious.
The woman has suffered injuries on the back.”
Both are admitted in the ICU of the hospital.
