The duo were found guilty of possession of drugs with the intention of trafficking. In June 2004, the Anti-Narcotics Squad and Coast Guards in the Eastern Region had recovered 203kg of hashish that was concealed in the diesel tank of a motorboat that entered the country through Khor Fakkan waters.

During interrogation, the duo confessed having smuggled the contraband from Karachi to the industrial area in the emirate of Sharjah.
