According to the police, a 50-year-old man and his accomplice, the watchman of the building, were arrested for killing a 37-year-old expatriate housemaid in the Capital’s Tourist Club Area. All, including the murdered woman, are Asians.

The police said the suspects killed the woman inside the building elevator by stabbing her with a sharp object and dumped her body in the building garbage chute.

Major Jumma Al Ka’abi, Head of Homicide Section at the Department of Criminal Investigation of Abu Dhabi Police, said that the body had wounds all over it, mainly on the chest. “The main culprit, the 50-year-old, has confessed to the murder saying he killed her because she always ignored his affection for her,” he said.

The main suspect told the police that he loved the woman very much and it was his desire to take her out for a date but she declined all his offers and ignored him.

He said he was extremely furious and decided to either have a date or kill her, and when he failed to take her out he tied up with the building watchman and planned the murder.

Without elaborating on the time and date of the incident, Al Ka’abi said the Operation Room at the department received a call from a woman resident of the building saying she saw blood coming out from the elevator.

After the report, Al Ka’abi said, he immediately sent a special investigating team to the building where they found the blood stains inside and outside the elevator.

“Our investigating team, after finding the blood, put their acts together to find the body and other evidences that led to the arrest of the main suspect and his accomplice. During their search, they found blood stains outside the garbage chute room. They found the body of the victim in the garbage bin with the T-shirt of the main accused,” he explained.

Al Ka’abi said the victim was found lying on her face with the entire body bathed in blood. “She had multiple wounds on her chest caused by a sharp object, which was also found along with her body. The suspect’s blood stained shirt also was found.”

“Our team collected all the evidence including the tool, a sharp metal folding, used to kill her. The two suspects, the 50-year-old man and the partner, were arrested within hours of the crime.”

The main accused, he added, admitted to the crime and evidences also include traces of his phone calls and SMS messages to the victim’s mobile phone.
