Abu Dhabi — The national capital is gearing up for World Music Day that falls on June 13
Music lovers are invited to gather on the day at the World Trade Center Mall (WTC Mall), the modern shopping destination located in the heart of the city.
The mall, in collaboration with Alliance Francaise, Abu Dhabi, will host a 10-hour long musical event to mark the World Music Day (La Fete des Musicians).
The event features amateur and professional performers from across the globe, playing all genres of music.
The event will be held at the Public Square from 12.30pm to 10pm. This is the third year that the mall is hosting the World Music Day. Last year, around 1,000 music fans were present and numbers are expected to increase this year.
Launched by France in 1982, the day is meant to encourage more people to appreciate music, and more than 100 countries celebrate the day every year on the Summer Solstice. Due to the dynamism of the French cultural network in the country, World Music Day has become a popular calendar date in the UAE.
