Symposium to tackle illicit drugs problem

DUBAI — The police officers from the Arab world will next week discuss strategic plans to fight the illicit drugs trade with representatives of the Middle East and North Africa-based UN Regional Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

The Dubai Police is organising an Arab symposium on strategic planning and cooperation in combating drug as part of international programme ‘Himaya’.

Brigadier Abdul Rahman Mohammed Rafee, chairman of the symposium’s organising committee, said that the event is aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation on drugs tracking and drug-related crimes in the Arab world.

Brigadier Khamis Mattar Al Mazina, Head of International Cooperation Programme, ‘Himaya’, said use of narcotics is one of the most dangerous problems facing the communities.
